Black, Gray & Yellow Non-Slip Cast-In-Place Options

Several Ecoglo® cast-in-place series are available with black, gray or yellow anti-slip surfaces. Select the insert color to create appropriate visual contrast with the surrounding concrete and project finishes.

Ecoglo S4070 black non-slip cast-in-place stair nosing

Black

Dark silicon-carbide traction provides a strong contrasting edge against many lighter concrete finishes.

Ecoglo S4060 gray non-slip cast-in-place stair nosing

Gray

A more neutral architectural finish while retaining durable anti-slip performance and visible step-edge definition.

Ecoglo S4050 yellow non-slip cast-in-place stair nosing

Yellow

High-visibility daytime contrast for projects where yellow clearly differentiates the stair edge from the surrounding tread.

Why Use Cast-In-Place Non-Slip Stair Nosings?

Flush, Integrated Installation

Installing the nosing while concrete is wet creates a neat, integrated stair-edge detail rather than a later surface-mounted retrofit.

Silicon-Carbide Traction

Hard-wearing anti-slip material is bonded to the aluminum profile for durable pedestrian traction under heavy foot traffic.

Step-Edge Color Contrast

Contrasting black, gray or yellow inserts can help make the leading edge of the concrete step more visually distinct.

Indoor & Outdoor Durability

Ecoglo® describes these profiles for long-term indoor and outdoor installations and emphasizes resistance to UV weathering.

Concrete Installation

How Ecoglo® Cast-In-Place Stair Nosings Are Installed

1 Select the Correct Profile Before the Pour

Coordinate the specified S10, S2, S3, S3B or S4 profile with the architectural stair detail before concrete placement.

2 Set the Aluminum Nosing Into Wet Concrete

Cast-in-place nosings are designed for concrete stairs, concrete-filled steel-pan stairs and precast concrete stair construction.

3 Keep the Finished Surface Protected

Current S-Series instructions use clear protective tape around the product during installation. Remove it after installation by cutting and peeling the tape as directed.

4 Install or Protect the Non-Slip Insert

Depending on the series, inserts can be supplied attached or unattached. Unattached inserts can be installed later to help keep them clean and protect them from construction damage.

5 Follow the Current Manufacturer Detail

Use the current Ecoglo® data sheet, approved submittal and project-specific installation instructions for the exact model.

Standard Lengths, Inserts & Aluminum Construction

8 ft & 10 ft Standards

Current S-Series product information lists 8 ft and 10 ft as standard manufacturer lengths for several cast-in-place models.

Cut-to-Length Options

Many models are available cut to length with an approximate ±1/8-inch tolerance. Current ComposiGrip listings also offer shorter pre-cut lengths on selected products.

Attached or Unattached Inserts

Unattached inserts can be installed later in construction to reduce the chance of contamination or damage to the traction surface.

Aluminum-Based Profiles

Current S-Series product pages identify 6063-T5 aluminum with protective finishes designed to help resist corrosion.

Applications for Non-Slip Cast-In-Place Stair Nosing

New Concrete Stairs

Integrated stair-edge safety installed as the concrete stair is poured.

Concrete-Filled Steel Pans

Commercial stair assemblies where the steel-pan stair receives a concrete fill.

Precast Concrete

Precast stair construction requiring durable anti-slip leading-edge protection.

Schools & Universities

High-traffic institutional stairs and new education-facility construction.

Hospitals

Healthcare facilities requiring durable, maintainable concrete stair edges.

Transit & Infrastructure

Heavy-use public stairs exposed to frequent pedestrian traffic.

Commercial Buildings

Office, retail, hospitality and mixed-use construction projects.

Outdoor Concrete Stairs

Weather-exposed stairways requiring durable anti-slip edge protection.

Non-Slip Cast-In-Place vs. Photoluminescent Cast-In-Place Nosing

The S10-N30, S2-N30, S3-N, S3B-N and S4-N30 families are non-photoluminescent. Their primary functions are traction, step-edge protection and daytime color contrast. If the project requires luminous egress path marking or glow-in-the-dark step-edge visibility, select an appropriate Ecoglo® photoluminescent cast-in-place stair nosing instead.
