Luminescent Carpet Stair Nosing for Imporved Visibility

Ensure the edges of carpeted stairs are visible in all conditions—and safe underfoot—with the Luminescent Carpet Stair Nosing series. Designed specifically for carpeted stairways, these nosings bring together high-performance glow, non-slip protection, and long-term durability for emergency egress that never falters.

Key Features & Benefits of Luminescent Carpet Stair Nosing

  • Photoluminescent Strips for Visibility
Models include 3 or 5 luminous strips that charge with ambient light and glow in darkness, guiding occupants toward exits when lighting fails.
  • Integrated Non-Slip Surface
Durable non-slip strips/ridges protect against slips even in wet or high-traffic conditions. Abrasion resistant material ensures performance over time.
  • Constructed for Carpeted Stairs
Uses a right-angled aluminum nosing that fits over carpet stair edges. Carpet should be removed from the edge so the nosing is independent of the carpet—making future carpet replacements easier without removing the nosing.
  • Strong & Versatile Installation
Can be installed using premium polyurethane adhesive with or without mechanical fasteners. Comes with pre-drilled, countersunk holes and appropriate fasteners & anchors. Standard lengths available; custom lengths possible.
  • Tough Materials & Finishes
Anodized aluminum base to resist corrosion and wear, with finishes available in clear, grey, black, yellow, possibly bronze. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use; designed to stand up to heavy foot traffic without visible wear.
  • Code-Compliant Safety
Meets egress path marking codes for stair edge visibility in low-light and emergency conditions. Provides a long-lasting, maintenance-free safety upgrade.

Use Cases

  • Public buildings (schools, theatres, hotels) that use carpeted stairs and need to meet safety / fire / building codes
  • Facilities with high traffic where slip resistance and emergency visibility are critical
  • New installations or retrofits where existing carpeting may change—nosing stays in place when carpets are replaced
  • Indoor staircases, potentially some semi-covered outdoor stairs (depending on finish and exposure)
