Important Surface Preparation Notes
Remove contamination, frost, rust, loose material and standing water before sealing. Test adhesion to confirm compatibility with the application.
TPO: CHEM LINK specifies LOW-VOC EPDM/TPO Primer F1280 LVOC.
Wood: Do not use on fire-retardant lumber. Allow treated lumber to weather for six months, following manufacturer guidance.
Concrete: Remove release agents, loose concrete and visible standing water before applying.
How to Apply M-1 Universal Adhesive & Sealant
1
Prepare the surfaceRemove dust, oils, rust, frost, standing water and incompatible coatings; follow substrate-specific preparation guidance.
2
Verify adhesion and primer needsTest substrate adhesion where needed. Use CHEM LINK F1280 LVOC primer for TPO roofing membrane.
3
Prepare the cartridgeCut the nozzle and use a professional-grade 26:1 high-thrust caulking gun for cartridges.
4
Apply a continuous beadGun the sealant smoothly onto the prepared substrate.
5
Tool within 15 minutesFinish the bead to promote proper attachment and a uniform seal.
6
Protect while curingTypical full cure is within 24 hours, depending on bead depth, temperature and humidity. Prevent movement and debris until cured.
These are condensed instructions. Consult the full CHEM LINK Sealant Application Technical Bulletin before installation.
