Q1: Are ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads Available in Different Lengths?

A: ComposiGrip stair treads are available in the standard length of 48’’. If you require shorter lengths you may purchase custom cut stair covers here. Alternatively, ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads are easily cut to length using a circular saw with an abrasive cutting blade/diamond blade.

For lengths over 48’’ we recommend cutting and butting the step covers together to achieve your desired length.

 

Q2: Are ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads Available in Different Depths?

A: ComposiGrip stair treads are available in the standard depth of 10”. If your require shorter depths you may purchase custom cut stair covers here. Alternatively, ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads are easily cut to length using a circular saw with an abrasive cutting blade/diamond blade. 

For depths over 10’’ we recommend cutting and butting the step covers together to achieve your desired depth.

 

Q3: Which Size Screws are Recommended for Installation into PT or Regular Wood Steps?

A: We recommend using self-tapping stainless steel #6 wood screws, which do not require pre-drilling. For non-self-tapping stainless steel wood screws, pre-drilling the ComposiGrip step cover is recommended.

 

Q4: Which Screws are Recommended for Installation on Concrete Steps?

A: We recommend using tap con screws and pre-drilling your ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Tread before installing on concrete steps. For concrete installations you may choose to use a premium PL adhesive along with tap con screws.

Q5: What Adhesive is Recommended for Installation on Wood, Concrete and Steel Steps?

A: We recommend a premium PL adhesive or equivalent high quality construction adhesive. Ensure to follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions carefully for best results.

 

Q6: Do ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads Need to be Pre-Drilled Prior to Installation?

Depending on the fasteners used in installation, pre-drilling may ne necessary. Self-tapping fasteners into wood steps do not require pre-drilling.

 

Q7: Can ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads be Installed on Painted or Stained Steps?

A: If using stainless steel fasteners, paint or stain will not affect the installation of ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads. If you plan to use construction adhesive for the installation ensure the surface is clean, dry and level before installing. Lightly sanding the step and the back of the step cover can help create a stronger adhesion. Finish the installation with stainless steel fasteners.

 

Q8: Can ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads be Walked on Barefoot?

A: Yes! The non-slip surface is safe for bare feet and pets to walk on. Some people’s feet may be more sensitive to the non-slip pattern so test you own sensitivity and walk accordingly.

 

Q9: What is the Dimension of the Nosing/Overhang on the lip of the stair tread?

A: The nosing/overhang on the lip of the stair tread is approximately 1 ½”.

 

Q10: How are ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads Installed on Steel Grate Steps?

A: The use of saddles clips are recommended for installation on steel grate steps. You will need to measure the distance between the steel grate to ensure you purchase the correct size of saddle clips, which can be purchased at your local hardware store.

Q11: What is the best way to remove snow from the surface of Composi-Grip Non-Slip Stair Covers?

A: Using a plastic shovel for removing snow on exterior installations is recommended, as metal shovels may scratch the step cover. 

 

Q12: Will use of salt in the winter damage ComposiGrip Non-Slip Stair Treads?

A: No! ComposiGrip’s non-slip stair treads are impervious to the effects of salt and other ice melting chemicals, providing a rigid non-slip grip all year long.
